A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our Sockburn depot for a Dispatcher / Yard Coordinator to join the hard-working team. This is an ideal role for an energetic and career-driven individual who is looking for a stepping stone into the operations side of the transport sector.
This successful applicant will enjoy spending approximately 80% of their time assisting the Dispatchers with the daily scheduling of drivers, fleet and jobs to ensure maximum productivity and 20% of their time assisting with yard duties such as loading and unloading of units, ensuring documentation is present and accurate and the training and upskilling of drivers. In both capacities, the core focus will be to ensure drivers are following correct procedures and all customer requirements are met.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the transport sector; either gained in a driving or storeperson capacity, or from previous dispatch or scheduling roles. An OSH certificate and an F endorsement is essential along with top-notch computer skills as data entry, on-line scheduling and GPS tracking form a large part of this role. Strong geographical knowledge of the Canterbury and wider South Island area would also be very beneficial.
Health & Safety is a key focus at Hilton Haulage, so the successful applicant must be prepared to comply with all safety-related rules, policies, procedures and directions given and ensure the employees under their care adhere also. This includes observing customer site rules and taking all reasonable steps to prevent harm to themselves or others.
